About

Hello and welcome to my blog!  My name is Maddy Ruehl and I am a junior at St. Lawrence University in New York. I am majoring in Neuroscience with a minor in Creative Writing. I am spending my spring semester in Copenhagen, Denmark where I will be continuing my studies while also learning about Child Development in Scandinavia. This blog consists of many short stories that, together, describe my adventures through Denmark and other parts of Europe. My goals are to actively document my educational experiences and adventures while immersed in a new culture as well as peak the interest of future study-abroaders who are looking to travel to Denmark.

I am originally from Tucson, Arizona, where the average temperature hangs out around a slightly-too-hot-for-a-sweater 65…in the winter. In the summer, the temp likes to dance around a blistering 102!! As we get barely any rain, the weather in Denmark will be a challenge, but I gladly accept it. In Copenhagen, I will be studying Child Development in Scandinavia for which I will be observing and interacting with some youngsters and studying their behavior. For all you people who go gaga over babies, you are not alone. I am super passionate about working with young children as I plan on becoming a pre-natal genetic counselor! This career gives me the opportunity to allow families to have the healthiest babies they can in the safest and most effective way. This field (as well as this course!) will be extremely rewarding and I am so excited to see what the future holds!

Thanks for following me and my adventures and I hope you enjoy!
